Charlotte Flair, who for many years carried the weight of one of the most famous surnames in pro wrestling history, namely that of her father, Ric Flair, recently opened up about the matter.
The former Women’s Champion has always been in the spotlight due to her father’s immense legacy, and dealing with that enormous responsibility has not been easy over the years.
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, the wrestler explained the heavy expectations placed on her shoulders.
“The pressure of carrying the name Ric Flair is something impossible to imagine. And for me, between 2015 and 2024, what hurt the most was trying to appear perfect in the eyes of the public while I was going through so many internal battles. Everyone has their own struggles, I’m no different… but that was my sacrifice, trying to be perfect all the time, and it made me lose who I truly was as a person.”
It is worth noting that, currently, Flair is teaming up with Alexa Bliss, and the two will challenge for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against the current champions Nia Jax and Lash Legend at WrestleMania 42, which takes place on April 18 and 19.
