WrestleMania 43, scheduled for 2027 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will be the first edition of pro wrestling’s biggest event to be held outside the United States since 1980, the year WWE was founded.
Despite ongoing armed conflicts between the United States, Israel, and Iran in the Middle East, WWE remains committed to its plans to stage the Showcase of the Immortals there, and already has tentative dates in place.
According to WrestleVotes Radio, WWE has March 27 as its primary target date, coinciding with the final weekend of Riyadh Season, but if that proves unfeasible, the week of April 10 is also being considered as an alternative.
However, the most interesting development is that WWE is reportedly considering holding the event as a one-night show, as was the format through 2019 up to WrestleMania 35. ESPN, however, opposes the idea.
“A one-night WrestleMania has been considered as a possibility, though it’s currently viewed as unlikely. ESPN is said to prefer WrestleMania remain a two-night event, which has become the standard in recent years.”
It’s worth noting that ESPN took over the U.S. broadcast rights for WWE premium live events in September 2025, starting with Wrestlepalooza. That means business strategies for these events now run directly through Disney’s partner network.
This year’s Royal Rumble, also held in Riyadh, was the first edition of the event to take place outside North America, setting the precedent for what will happen with WrestleMania 43 in 2027.
