Brie Bella, who experienced a historic night at WrestleMania 42 alongside Paige by winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship for the first time in her career, revealed that she nearly missed the event.
As we previously reported on House of Wrestling, even before Paige‘s return became a possibility, WWE was already facing a major problem with the injury suffered by Nikki Bella three weeks before the event on Friday Night SmackDown.
Nikki injured her left ankle during a physical confrontation with Charlotte Flair, putting The Bella Twins‘ participation in the event at risk.
Asuka and Kairi Sane were seriously considered as replacements for The Bella Twins in the Fatal 4-Way Match at the Showcase of the Immortals if Nikki had not recovered in time.
In a recent episode of The Nikki & Brie Show, Brie revealed that as soon as Nikki‘s diagnosis ruled her out of the event, she herself was also at serious risk of being left off the card.
Brie said that the duo’s sudden absence during the Road to WrestleMania left her deeply discouraged, to the point of considering giving up. However, her husband and former WWE Superstar, Bryan Danielson, asked her to think it over carefully, because opportunities in pro wrestling do not always come around, but ultimately told her to follow her heart.
