AJ Lee was defeated by Becky Lynch last night during night one of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, losing the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

AJ saw her reign end after 50 days. She had won the title on February 28 at Elimination Chamber, defeating Lynch in Chicago, capturing a title in WWE after 11 years.

Right after last night’s event ended, AJ joined the pre-show panel, announcing that she will take another sabbatical from WWE, but promised to return.

“With this entrance, I wanted to honor the fans who have been with me since day one, who wore my gear, my t-shirts, my sneakers, my shorts and skipped with me the whole time. This was for you. I love you. I never got to say goodbye properly the last time and I’ve always felt bad about it. So, this is not goodbye, it’s see you soon.”

The entrance AJ is referring to is her walk to the ring before the match, where she was accompanied by several children, all dressed in her attire and mimicking her mannerisms.

AJ made her return to WWE in September 2025, on the eve of Wrestlepalooza, an event in which, alongside CM Punk, she defeated Lynch and Seth Rollins in a Mixed Tag Team Match.

In November of that same year, she was part of the winning team in the Women’s WarGames Match, once again defeating The Man.

Lynch, meanwhile, captured the title for the third time in her career, becoming the most dominant wrestler in the division.
