Although WrestleMania 42 is just a week away, WWE is already planning the main event for Backlash, the premium live event that kicks off the company’s new season.

The rivalry between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes, regardless of who leaves the Showcase of Immortals as the Undisputed WWE Champion, is expected to continue—but not just between the two of them.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is planning a major tag team match for Backlash, which would include Pat McAfee and Jelly Roll.

“McAfee is set to team up with Orton against Rhodes and Jelly Roll after WrestleMania, and the match is expected to be one of the main attractions of Backlash, scheduled for May 9, at least according to plans confirmed by multiple sources that were still in place at the time of publication.”

It is worth noting that, a week before McAfee was revealed as Orton’s mystery ally, Roll was hit with an RKO during a chaotic brawl in the ring on SmackDown involving Rhodes.

Apparently, WWE will use the angle of the attack on Roll to officially set up this tag team match for Backlash.

WWE Backlash will take place on May 9 in Tampa, Florida.
