Gunther’s rivalry with Seth Rollins appears to go far beyond a match at WrestleMania 42, with direct consequences for Brock Lesnar’s future.

During the latest episode of WWE RAW, Rollins came to the ring to talk about Gunther’s actions last week, saying that his attack and saving Heyman made their WrestleMania 42 match personal. This led the Austrian to come to the ring attempting to ambush Rollins, which ultimately turned into an all-out brawl between the two.

As soon as the segment ended, Gunther met Paul Heyman backstage and made it very clear that he expects much more from Heyman than just a “thank you.”

With that, fans have already begun speculating that this could be a retirement match against Brock Lesnar. In fact, Gunther recently earned the nickname “The Career Killer” after ending the careers of AJ Styles and John Cena.

We also know that multiple sources have reported that The Beast will retire from WWE this year, with SummerSlam taking place in his hometown on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, 2026. In other words, there are good reasons to believe WWE may be heading in this direction.

Finally, if WWE’s plan is for Gunther to face Lesnar at SummerSlam, it would make much more sense for him to win in Las Vegas at the mega event.
