Thunder Rosa’s journey in AEW has had its ups and downs, especially when we stop to talk about her most recent years.
When the Mexican star arrived in AEW in 2020, she quickly gained prominence, taking part in one of the biggest rivalries the company has had to this day — namely her storyline with Britt Baker, which earned her the AEW Women’s World Championship and one of the most brutal matches of her career, the 2021 Unsanctioned Lights Out.
However, in 2022 she suffered a serious back injury that prevented her from competing for over a year, with her return only becoming possible at the end of 2023. Despite a successful comeback, just a few months later she was injured again.
Despite all the setbacks, she is back on the company’s programming and recently, in an interview with Busted Open Radio, commented that she considered giving up her career due to the injuries:
“Life is once again giving me the opportunity to do something I’ve worked so hard for over the last 12 years. I’m extremely excited. I want to leave a message for everyone who supported my return: it’s important not to give up, especially during the toughest moments. This injury — believe me, Robin — was a very dark period.”
She continued, saying she is happy to be back, but was honest in revealing how she almost retired:
“There were moments when I thought I would probably never wrestle again. That’s why I’m extremely excited to face Julia Hart on Collision.”

Only the future will tell what will happen with Thunder Rosa in AEW from now on, but the company appears to have big plans for her.
