Rusev recently revealed, during an interview with Chris Van Vliet on the Insight podcast, when he intends to carry out a reassessment to decide how long he will continue wrestling.
The wrestler has been quite active in 2025, since he returned to WWE in April of last year, having competed in 33 matches. Despite this, in recent months he has been used sparingly, having only two matches on the Main Event program and a brief appearance in the Royal Rumble.
The Bulgarian Brute commented the following about a possible retirement:
“I said that at 45 years old I will reassess my body and see how it is. But, so far, I feel great. I haven’t felt this good in a long time, because it’s not like you wrestle every day. So the body is much more preserved. I am taking much better care of my body. I do a lot of stretching and massages. I am eating better. I train in a smarter way. I take care of my body, and I know it will take care of me.”
Since returning to WWE, Rusev has had some important rivalries with Alpha Academy and Sheamus, although he has also faced Damian Priest, Jey Uso, and Sami Zayn.
Rusev is a three-time United States Champion, but that was during his first run with the company. In this second run, he has had only one opportunity to win the Intercontinental Championship.
