Apparently, Royce Keys’ meteoric WWE debut during the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match on January 31 in Saudi Arabia will not be capitalized on during the Road to WrestleMania 42, as there may currently be no plans for him.
According to WrestleVotes Radio, via Fightful Select, although there were previous rumors that Keys would team up with Jelly Roll for a match against The Miz and Kit Wilson at The Showcase of the Immortals, that is no longer part of the current plans.
“The rumor was Jelly Roll and Royce Keys facing Kit Wilson and The Miz. That rumor has been shut down. It may have been discussed at some point, but it is definitely not the plan.”
WWE has been continuously changing its plans for WrestleMania 42, much of it driven by lower ticket sales compared to the same period in 2025. In other words, Keys debuting in the Royal Rumble and then not being used afterward was not something originally planned.
“Right now, you’re in a situation where you bring Royce Keys in for a surprise Royal Rumble debut, and then he just disappears until after WrestleMania. That would be unthinkable in any creative planning. If someone pitched putting him in the Rumble and then taking him off TV until after WrestleMania, the reaction would be disbelief—but that’s exactly where things stand now.”
Despite Keys’ absence, the rivalry involving Roll and Wilson continues to build. On this week’s Friday Night SmackDown, the two will face off in a Singles Match. On last week’s show, Wilson attacked Roll.
Keys signed with WWE on January 23. His last match in AEW took place on the 17th of the same month, when he and The Opps lost the AEW World Trios Championship at Collision: Maximum Carnage.
