Roman Reigns, after two years, is back on top of the mountain. On the second night of WrestleMania 42, the OTC defeated CM Punk, capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Both men were at the center of one of the most personal rivalries in the history of the Showcase of Immortals, with family, age, and physical abilities serving as the main focal points of the lengthy mind games they starred in.
The match itself was one of the best of this edition of the event, although it was not without controversy. Reigns hit Punk with the steel steps and was not disqualified. In addition, the referee never started any count outside the ring.

Even so, Reigns and Punk left everything in the ring, literally pushing themselves to the brink and ending up truly exhausted.
In the end, after already surviving four GTSs, Reigns hit Punk with two brutal Spears, followed by the pinfall, becoming the new champion.
Although he has already won other world titles, such as the WWE Universal Championship and the WWE Championship, this is the first time Reigns has become World Heavyweight Champion. Punk‘s reign, which began on November 1, 2025, has come to an end.
