Roman Reigns was one of the targets of CM Punk’s iconic pipebomb on last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, along with other top WWE and TKO names such as Ari Emanuel, The Rock, and Pat McAfee.
Punk’s criticism of Reigns focused on his current WWE contract, which operates on a part-time basis.
According to the Second City Savior, Reigns has always had every opportunity in WWE due to his family connections. Punk pointed out how absurd it is that the OTC still receives prominence despite not being on a full-time contract.
However, according to WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley, on the latest edition of Busted Open Radio, Punk was quite mistaken in his criticism of Reigns.
“Comparing Roman to The Rock gives the impression that Punk is saying he works hard while the other does whatever he wants. But many people forget that Roman didn’t leave the company—the one who left was Punk. Roman earned the right to appear less, to have certain advantages in wrestling that only come with main event status. You were gone for ten years, Punk, so now you’ll have to work harder.”
Ray is referring to the period when Punk left WWE in 2014, during the Road to WrestleMania.
Before returning to WWE in 2023, Punk ventured into MMA, having two matches in the UFC, in addition to a two-year run in AEW that began in 2021.
