Randy Orton has been at the center of one of the most shocking moments of the Road to WrestleMania 42 so far. Two weeks ago on Friday Night SmackDown, he brutally attacked Cody Rhodes during the contract signing for their Undisputed WWE Championship match.
Orton continued his aggressive streak last week when, similar to what he did to Rhodes, he destroyed Matt Cardona by crushing his arm with a steel chair.
According to Self Made Pro, Rhodes will be presented with a more aggressive edge when he returns to WWE programming, as he looks to get revenge on Orton.
“I asked someone within WWE whether this would lead to a change in Cody Rhodes’ character and what the plan was. The response was that when Cody returns to TV during the remainder of this feud’s build, he will essentially fight fire with fire. When I asked what that meant, I was told that the same level of intensity Randy is showing right now will also be displayed by Cody, as a way to match and confront that attitude.”
The last time Rhodes showed an unusually aggressive side was in the week following his loss of the Undisputed WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre in January, when he went after Jacob Fatu, who was responsible for his defeat in the historic Three Stages of Hell Match in Berlin.
Orton and Rhodes are expected to come face-to-face for the first time since The Viper’s heel turn on this week’s Friday Night SmackDown, set to take place at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
