Vince McMahon, even after stepping away from WWE, continues to be at the center of major controversies related to the company’s backstage operations, more specifically its creative team.
According to documents leaked as part of a TKO shareholder lawsuit, text messages from 2023 confirm that McMahon was still heavily influencing WWE’s decisions at the time.
The revealed conversations involve McMahon, WWE’s current head of creative, Triple H, and WWE president Nick Khan.
In a message from February 2023, McMahon asked Triple H and Bruce Prichard whether Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes were aware of the new plans he had for WrestleMania 39 and, consequently, for the following year’s Mania, since one match would affect the other.
Triple H was not happy with Vince McMahon hovering around in 2023.

Interestingly, about a month after that message, Khan gave an interview to CNBC, categorically stating that McMahon had no involvement whatsoever with WWE’s creative department. In reality, this was a major move to divert negative attention away from the company.
Additionally, the leak includes a conversation from December 2023 in which Triple H shows significant concern after being alerted that McMahon was on his way to a Monday Night RAW episode in Cleveland. HHH and Khan discuss a way to address McMahon’s desire to appear on TV.
The lawsuit filed by shareholders focuses precisely on how McMahon retained power over the company even after leaving his position.
