A former WWE Superstar has teased a return to the pro wrestling ring after nearly three years away.
Alex Riley, who was released by WWE on May 6, 2016, became more prominently featured in the company in 2010, when he worked as The Miz’s bodyguard and was part of Miz’s first WWE Championship reign.
However, in 2011, after his partnership with Miz had ended, Riley was reportedly involved in a backstage issue with then-WWE Champion John Cena, which led to a long period of stagnation.
In 2013, he transitioned into a role as a pre-show commentator on the now-defunct WWE Network. In 2015, he returned to in-ring competition in WWE NXT. His last televised match took place just days before his release, where he was defeated by Shinsuke Nakamura.
On social media, Riley shared a post showing himself inside a ring, seemingly after a training session, teasing a possible return to the industry.
