Cody Rhodes suffered a serious injury coming out of the main event of WrestleMania 42, where he successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton. The injury, diagnosed as an orbital injury, occurred after he was hit with an Orton Punt Kick, delivered after the match had already ended.

WWE‘s first measure to protect Rhodes was removing him from the final day of WWE World on Sunday in Las Vegas, due to his medical condition.

There has been a lot of speculation about his future as champion, as the expectation is that Rhodes will step away from the company’s programming for a period of time to recover.

According to Bodyslam.net, WWE has no plans to strip Rhodes of the title, at least for the time being.

What will be taken into account is the recovery time. In other words, if he progresses quickly, he will remain champion.

A possible stripping of the title will only happen if the length of his absence is greater than the company considers acceptable.

The expectation is that Rhodes or WWE itself will provide new updates on his condition on the next Friday Night SmackDown.
