AEW moved early to lock Thekla into a new multi-year deal. The current AEW Women’s World Champion has become one of the company’s top names in recent months.
Thekla arrived in AEW in 2025 after departing STARDOM, where she spent several years and built her reputation in pro wrestling.
On the February 11 episode of AEW Dynamite, Thekla defeated Kris Statlander to capture the AEW Women’s World Championship, ending a 145-day reign. At AEW Revolution on March 15, Thekla defeated Statlander again in a Two-out-of-Three Falls Match.
After removing Statlander from the title picture, Thekla went on to defeat Thunder Rosa and Mina Shirakawa in two more title defenses.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, AEW has re-signed Thekla to a multi-year contract with a significant pay raise. The idea from Tony Khan’s company was to prevent a potential push from WWE, which could have complicated negotiations with the wrestler.
Thekla’s next challenger for the title will be Jamie Hayter at AEW Dynasty on April 12.
